About Us

Victory Audiophonic Sound Equipment (VASE) was founded by Tony Troughton in 1958, born out of a passion for music and craftsmanship. Tony continued to build guitar and instrument amplifiers through the 1960’s in Brisbane Australia, which were popular amongst local bands, musicians and in classic Brisbane venues such as Festival Hall

Tony retired from amplifier manufacturing in the late 1970's and passed away in April, 1983.

It was 25 years before new VASE Amplifiers were meticulously brought back to market by Harry Lloyd-Williams. Harry worked in Ipswich during the early 1970s as a guitar teacher and salesman where he became well acquainted with Tony. Under Harry’s direction, VASE once again produced guitar amplifiers which replicated the sound of original VASE models. He also went to great lengths to source the original vinyl rollers and badge templates, amongst other things, to maintain the aesthetic of the brand.

Passionate about maintaining the Australian icon, brothers Tim & Ed Kuschel have relocated VASE operations to Wollongong, New South Wales to continue the legacy of quality, handmade guitar amplifiers made in Australia. We’re focusing on reworking the popular Tonesetter & Dynabass ranges along with restoration and repair for vintage VASE Amplifiers. The VASE legacy continues as a boutique, family-run business demonstrating craftsmanship and attention to detail in every amplifier.
